I would like to say a huge thank you to HQ for inviting me to take part on this intriguing and enchanting book’s tour. I would also like to say thank you for HQ for allowing me to read a digital copy of this book. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the creative talent, Kirsten Miller for creating such strong, determined women with whom society don’t recognise or even pay attention to the cares, stresses and woes of the middle aged women. This gives them powers in which they can use it to fight back against the patriarchy and men who seem to think women should know their place. Intrigued? Let’s find out a bit more in the blurb.

Nessa: The Seeker

Jo: The Protector

Harriett: The Punisher

With newfound powers the time has come to take matters into their own hands…..

After Nessa is widowed and her daughters leave for college, she’s left alone in her house near the ocean. In the quiet hours, she hears voices belonging to the dead – who will only speak to her.

On the cusp of fifty Harriet’s marriage and career imploded, and she hasn’t left her house in months. But her life is is far from over – in fact, she’s undergone a stunning metamorphosis.

Jo spent thirty years at war with her body. The rage that arrived with menopause felt like the last straw – until she discovers she’s able to channel it.

Guided by voices only Nessa can hear, the trio discover the abandoned body of a teenage girl. The police have written off the victim. But the women have not. Their own investigations lead them to more bodies and a world of wealth where the rules don’t apply – and the realisation that laws are designed to protect villains, not the vulnerable.

So it’s up to these three women to avenge the innocent, and punish the guilty……

This book changes everything!!!, it brings out the hidden and ignored women who reach a certain age where they feel used up by their life such as family, their body is also undergoing changes which makes them feel less in control then they used to. But these women find that their change gives them powers which can help the status quo of being lied to, ignored or threatened by men. We have Nessa, who sees or is haunted by the dead that come to her to seek them being found and made to rest, there’s also Jo, the protector who uses her rage to either help with torn muscles or to force someone (men) to stop being idiots. Then there is Harriet, who uses her knowledge of plants and gardening to create her own version of revenge on people who abuse and violate moral code.

This is a powerful and intriguing book about women and our power and how we can use it to affect change in how men and women deal with each other. This is a highly feministic novel and I do say that it’s great reading about women getting back at men who are well awful, but there is a lot of anger in this and though I can understand it I did find it hard to engage with certain characters.

But this isn’t to say it’s not good, because it’s not it’s a thrilling and gripping book, with strong women who find their power and use it to help the vulnerable and victims of a poisonous and misogynistic society. I can guarantee that this is the book you need to read.

Ratings: 4 ⭐️s with a large ☕️ and a large 🍰 with a few 🍪.

Author’s Blurb:

Kirsten Miller is an outstanding feminist author in the YA and children’s space, who spent twenty-five years as a strategist in the advertising industry. During that time, she worked for some of the largest agencies in the world – including J Walter Thompson, DDB, Lowe and Ogilvy & Mather, as well as boutique agencies and an eight-person start-up. She’s proud to have quit a senior job at one of the most famous agencies in America over an ad that’s described in The Change. The Change is her first adult novel.

I hope you have enjoyed this powerful, strong story about women getting fed up with men and their antics and getting a chance to overturn the balance of power and letting it become level rather than one sided. If you are eager to get your hands on this, you can find this in Waterstones, any independent store and of course on Amazon. I will leave you now to say Happy Reading and see you all soon!!!
